Although I was fashionably late with my New Year's goals, Yvonne from Quilting Jetgirl has generously invited anyone to join her mid year review link up. I think it's the perfect time to reflect on the past 6 months and re-focus, re-tool, and get re-energized for the rest of the year. At the beginning of the year I was finally at a point in life (the baby actually sleeps!) where I could start to focus on quilting again. My goals were made with the idea that I would tie up some old loose … [Read more...]
New Years Goals
I'm a month behind on this but I decided it would be a good exercise any time of year. Right?! And I'll throw in some photos of what I've been sewing. So this post is definitely getting better by the minute. Goal 1: My biggest goal is to let go of perfection (at least temporarily) Before I had my daughter, I had many ideals of what I wanted this blog to be and how it had to look. But you know what? I don't have time to make it perfect right now. So I just stopped writing. And now I've missed a … [Read more...]
An Interesting Challenge
Remember last year when I vowed to send a shot of modernity (and maybe a shot of tequila ;)) to my local quilt show? Well the time has come friends. And I am freaking out a little. First Swoon Block
Oh hey again. It's been a little quiet around these parts. I spent some quality time with my beast (read: better than best) friend last week and have just been settling in back at home. Since I've been back I've mostly been catching up on everyone's entries in the Blogger's Quilt Festival. Seriously, you folks are all amazing! I did find a little time to start on my first swoon block for my picnic quilt. Piecing this together was not easy. I don't know if it was the chambray or I … [Read more...]
WIP Wednesday: New Projects Galore

Perhaps it's the promise of fall and thoughts chilly nights under a quilt (or ten!) that has brought on this onslaught of inspiration. Here are a few of my current projects and a few more that I'm starting this week: Picnic Quilt If you saw my weekend post, you got a sneak peak of my scrabble block! If you ever want a taste of losing it, sew together 225 1.5-inch squares into a board game layout. I have been not as … [Read more...]
Project Planning: Picnic Quilt
I've always wanted to have a picnic/outdoor blanket, so now that I'm getting better at quilting, I thought it was the perfect time to make my own. I have so many ideas for it, so I thought it would be fun put all my inspirations in one spot so I can finish planning it! Elements of my perfect picnic quilt: hardy/water resistant backing comfy cotton top handles, bag, or some way to roll it up and secure machine washable or easy to clean summery vibe built in game(s) pocket for game … [Read more...]
