I’m a month behind on this but I decided it would be a good exercise any time of year. Right?! And I’ll throw in some photos of what I’ve been sewing. So this post is definitely getting better by the minute.
Goal 1: My biggest goal is to let go of perfection (at least temporarily)
Before I had my daughter, I had many ideals of what I wanted this blog to be and how it had to look. But you know what? I don’t have time to make it perfect right now. So I just stopped writing. And now I’ve missed a year of sharing, exploring and interacting with many of my bloggy friends.
So I decided to make it work for me, perfect or not. So, while my daughter is young, you’ll see more iPhone photos from me on here. And more posts composed in my phone. But they will be great iPhone photos and hilarious autocorrected posts. Yep.
Goal 2: Finish my quilt photography series
Last year I started writing up a series of quilt photography tutorials. It covered iPhones to fancy dslrs and how to shoot in all kinds of situations. I was having so much fun! Then I got discouraged with my own lack of a time, moving to an un- photogenic working space and my camera gear stored in the garage. That is lame. I love photography and helping people with it. Time to get writing!
Goal 3: Write a quilt pattern
I’ve wanted to try this for a long time and Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs just started a blog series on it. It’s meant to be! I have something sketched out already and can’t wait to complete the process.
Goal 4: Hook myself up with the quilty goodness.
Guys, I have a comforter from a discount big box store on my bed that has fake patchwork on it. People ask me if I made it. How embarrassing!!! Must fix this.
Phew! It feels great to write that out. Now let’s go create something!

Perfection is overrated. Welcome back to blogging! With a little baby, anytime you can get to do the things you love is wonderful, so it is great to see that you have continued sewing while you’ve been ‘away’. The quilts above are so cute. I look forward to what is to come, especially the quilt you make for yourself.

Thank you so much for the nice comment! The little one has already taught me many lessons, and letting go of perfection is definitely one of them 🙂 I have a feeling I’ll learn a lot in the coming year.

We have so many goals in common! Love that blog series about writing a quilt pattern! 🙂 I cannot wait to see yours on photography! 🙂

Welcome back to blogland! I’m embracing my inner imperfectionist as well this year, and am also following along with Cheryl’s posts. I’d also look forward to your photography ones, as I recently got a new DSLR that is taking more getting used to than my old one. All tips are appreciated! Good luck meeting your goals. Also, huge fan of the mini for the swap!

Thanks Liz! Nice to see you! I’m excited you are following along with Cheryl’s posts! Is this your first quilt pattern too? Yay new camera!! I’m really hoping to have the photo series done soon. But if you need any help email me!! Happy to give suggestions 🙂

I like all your goals, especially the first one! And I will love seeing you back in this space more, iPhone photos and crazy autocorrect and all. Just watch out that you are sewing, not seeing. Heehee. My phone still doesn’t know I sew! I mostly view blogs from my phone these days and I honestly can’t tell the difference in picture quality. Have you seen the new A Color Story app? It’s awesome. I bought the pack and now I’m overwhelmed by all the options! The free essentials were doing me just fine. 🙂 Anyway, I’m happy your blogging and sewing again. I need to check out the pattern writing posts you mentioned because my tutorial writing always makes my head spin! Looking forward to your own series of quilt photography posts, too. Welcome back!

Hydeeann! I think I had to correct the autocorrect seeing to sewing about 10 times. Haha. My phone should know me by now! 🙂 I haven’t seen that app but I’ve seen a couple people on IG say great things. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the tip! And thanks for the warm welcome back!!! Can’t wait to follow and admire your progress on your gypsy wife quilt along!

Wonderful to see you blogging again Michelle! Your plans sound excellent and most likely quite achievable. Perfection will stop you from achieving, so instead try to enjoy the journey – and enjoy your young family!

Thank you for the sweet words Karen! It is hard sometimes but I am definitely trying to enjoy the journey 🙂

Welcome back! Perfection is highly overrated 🙂 We sleep under a comforter that was given to us at my wedding shower…17 years ago!! I have a plan to make one for us, finally, and an actual deadline so that I know it will get finished and not just put off again and again.
